About
I hope you see the joy in my work that starts with a lump of clay and ends with an artistic creation.
Growing up in rural Montana, I was inspired by nature and loved to draw and paint.
When I discovered clay more than 15 years ago, I found the perfect canvas for my nature-inspired designs. With ceramics, I not only carve the natural life around me into my work, but I also imbue each piece with personality and heart that is unique to such a hands-on art form.
The endless variety of possibilities with clay continues to excite me. I enjoy using different decorating techniques to give my pieces individuality. The theme that runs through my pieces is a love of nature and design, and nearly every piece has some aspect of sgraffito in which the clay is incised or carved. Even my stamped pieces start with my hand-carved sgraffito slabs. My goal is to share the joy in my work that starts with a lump of clay and ends with an artistic creation.
